Grand re-opening!

The Site de la Nouvelle-France will reopen its doors for the 2024 summer season. Starting in June, the site will once again be accessible to all travelers eager for history and culture. A number of additions and improvements have been made to ensure a truly memorable experience. It will now be possible to see 14 new buildings taken directly from the American Barkskins series. These remarkable settings will plunge you into the world of 17th-century Quebec. What's more, you'll also be able to try out a brand-new experience: a giant zip-line! This zipline will allow you to explore the site's magnificent landscapes from above. The 900-metre-long soft adventure experience flies over various picturesque areas.

What's new in the trees

In the heart of the sublime Saguenay Fjord, Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux reinvents adventure in nature with passion. The renewed Fjord en arbre aerial course transports visitors into an unforgettable experience, propelling them above a forest of tall pines through more than 40 aerial points. Whether you're looking to outdo yourself or simply get carried away by the exhilaration, this experience promises unforgettable sensations for all.

But the surprises don't stop there. The park also boasts five kilometers of newly-developed hiking trails, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the fjord. What's more, the brand-new three-story reception building boasts modern facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. It offers a full range of services, from equipment rental to boutique, café, and terrace to enjoy the breathtaking views. The renovated Murdock Pavilion, with its kitchenette, convivial communal area, sanitary block, and impressive view of the fjord, promises a comfortable stay.

The only museum of literature

After more than two years of renovation, the Musée Louis-Hémon is finally reopening its doors this summer to present the exhibition Péribonka, à la source des mots. A celebration of the richness and diversity of Franco-Canadian literature. Featuring stories with deep roots in Lac-Saint-Jean, such as Maria Chapdelaine, the exhibition highlights the sources of your favorite authors' imaginations.

Along the way, you'll discover how, from a simple spark, an astonishing creative process is born that has the power to unleash millions of words and turn them into memorable works of literature.

New exhibitions at La Pulperie de Chicoutimi

One passion, two wheels, three stories

From June 1, 2024, to April 27, 2025

The bicycle has profoundly changed societies and individuals since it first appeared in the 19th century. In itself, it is a veritable vector of change. With dozens of bicycles from every era, this exhibition illustrates with panache the special and unique relationship we have with this invention that has literally changed the world.

The shapes of mystery

June 1 to September 22, 2024

Beyond the excessive and sometimes delirious nature of his works, Daniel T. Tremblay takes a critical look at the society around him. A self-taught painter born in Chicoutimi in 1956, he brings his visions to life, weaving bridges between here and elsewhere, between the known and the unknown.

Fleurdelisé celebrates

From May 4 to September 22, 2024

The exhibition tells the story of the adoption of the fleurdelisé as the official flag of Quebec and celebrates its anniversary. The story of the fleurdelisé told in the exhibition commemorates the anniversary of its adoption, and brilliantly illustrates our collective pride in Québec!

Produced by Pointe-à-Callière, cité d'archéologie et d'histoire de Montréal, with financial support from the Ministère de la Langue française, and adapted by La Pulperie de Chicoutimi.
