Saint-Charles-de-Bourget

Population: 856

This picturesque hamlet creates a harmonious visual picture with its few residences forming the Place des Ormes heritage complex, nestled between the small church erected in 1915, cultivated fields and the panorama of the Saguenay River in the background. Saint-Charles-de-Bourget takes advantage of the river with its wharf and boat launch (free of charge), as well as a nearby rest area, campground and sanitary facilities. In the church, see an exhibition of paintings by artist Linda-Pierre Bélanger. In the surrounding countryside, the Lac Duclos marsh (intersection of 3e Rang and Route Racine) is of ornithological interest. An interpretive trail takes hikers to a rocky knoll offering a beautiful view, as well as to a natural terrace overlooking a second marsh.
