Go back in time to an authentic company town with forty of its original period buildings still intact. The

convent-school, general store, post office, abandoned houses and pulp mill are bursting with secrets, still standing as they did in 1927. At the factory, scale models demonstrate how the pulp was roduced and you can discover village history with an immersive show.

Having celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2015, the Saint-Georges de Val-Jalbert convent school has stood the test of time and remains one of the best-preserved buildings on the site. In Quebec, it is the only building still standing, witnessing the teaching where educational institutions were built with four classrooms.

It houses the exhibition "Entrez donc, on n'est pas sortux!", which pays tribute to the former inhabitants of Val-Jalbert. From an impressive collection of photographs and touching testimonials, discover the life of families in this modern and endearing village in a classroom of the convent school.

Discover the life of the mill thanks to its tactile models on the production of mechanical pulp. A grandiose immersive show that promises thrills, and influential characters of the time tell you their story for almost 20 minutes.

The mini hydroelectric power station :

One hundred and ten years later, Val-Jalbert is home to a mini-hydroelectric power plant to ensure the sustainability of the tourist experience. The discovery of this jewel of architectural integration unfolds during a walk featuring interpretation devices.

Belvederes and perches offer spectacular views of the waterfall and the Ouiatchouan River.

This route offers visitors a historical, industrial, technical, socio-economic, environmental and even artistic viewpoint for a global understanding of the project.

Moonlight evenings in winter (Saturdays December 3, January 7, February 4 and March 4)

The icy waterfall is illuminated as well as many buildings. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., you have access to walking, sliding, the Val-bleuets taffy, the general store and the fire pits. You can even discover the snowshoe and cross-country ski trails of the Club Plein-Air in the evening.
