Impressed. This is the qualifier that suits Jacques Cartier when he sets foot on the territory in 1535. Amazed by the vastness of the place, the explorer gives the region the name of “Kingdom”. The nickname stuck with it and Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean never misses an opportunity to remind us of it through a multitude of cultural and historical activities.
Even today, modern-day explorers come from afar to discover a singular territory combining two environments with infinite possibilities, as different as they are complementary.
