Saint-Augustin grew out of the settlement boom around Lac Saint-Jean in the 1895s, attracting land clearers and farmers. As families settled, the road network and institutional structures developed. Today, Saint-Augustin covers an area of 105 km2. It's a great place to live, where forestry, transportation and agriculture play a major role in development, thanks in particular to cranberries and blueberries. In winter, the Érablière du Lac Ceinture is transformed into a snowmobile relay, while in June, the Festival de la note en folie attracts many visitors. Here you'll find a grocery store, a hardware store, a mechanical garage, a gas station, a hair and beauty salon, a massage parlour and a post office.
