The Pulperie site tells the story of a place shaped by the river, the mills, the railway and worker know-how. The exhibition reveals how this pulp production complex transformed the landscape and left a lasting mark on its era.
René and Lévesque - How did René become the bigger-than-life Lévesque?
From June 5, 2026 to January 31, 2027
The exhibition highlights key stages in René Lévesque’s life, right up to his death in 1987, through archival documents, objects and personal possessions, many of which are being shown for the first time. “An exhibition conceived by the Musée de la civilisation in collaboration with the Fondation René-Lévesque and with the financial participation of the Government of Quebec.”
Freehand: Paintings and Drawings by Arthur Villeneuve

Arthur Villeneuve, a dedicated and meticulous artist, depicted his subjects with a confident hand. His instantly recognizable style is revealed through a remarkable selection of paintings and drawings from the Jean-Louis Gagnon collection, acquired by La Pulperie in 2016.

Throughout a captivating journey, meet an exceptional man, guided by a vision: that of dreaming and shape a region. Discover the destiny and legacy of this fascinating man who will be nicknamed “the king of pulp”. Artifacts, documents and immersive projections retrace the journey of this visionary man, whose imprint can still be found today in several places in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. “This exhibition is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Government of Quebec.”

Arthur Villeneuve - Far from being naive!
This exhibition retraces the career of the painter Arthur Villeneuve and looks back on several significant events in his life. Arthur Villeneuve has carved out an important place for himself in the Quebec artistic landscape thanks to raw talent, personal style and astonishing imagination. His career was marked by the production of nearly 4000 paintings and 2000 drawings.
