Description

Visit our mill classified as a heritage building! As a major novelty in 2021, the Moulin des Pionniers site is adding new play structures under the forest theme to its site such as water games with slides for children, giant inflatable trampolines, giant dry slides, tree-shaped games, swings, interactive games, hebertism trail, mini-golf games, rental cabins as well as kayaks, itinerant campground without service (dump station in the center of the village) and parking for the bike path that read La Doré in St-Félicien. Walking path.

Built in 1904, the entirely wooden mill measures 15 meters in length by 15 meters in width. All the machinery is found in the main part of the mill. The wood warehouse and the repair shop are located in the annexed part. Proud representative of the colonization of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, this hydraulic sawmill was in operation for more than 70 years. Come discover its history!

Visit the Moulin des Pionniers, a water-powered sawmill dating from 1889! The mill is no longer in operation today, but it is still possible to visit it and see it working thanks to a virtual tour and 360 degree videos. The famous “Félix Trottier” mechanical workshop (1894) can also be visited. They are jewels of forestry and industrial history.

Le Moulin des Pionniers has 4 4-season accommodations. The 3 chalets can accommodate from 2 to 8 people, and are equipped with a full kitchen, bedding, a barbecue and a fireplace.

Le Grand Camp offers 4 rooms for rent at the year round, with shared bathrooms and an equipped kitchen. Bedding is provided. Each room can accommodate up to 4 people.

A room that can accommodate up to 75 people is available for rent in low season.

The access to the kayaks is done without reservation according to the availability of the latter.

The trip totals 4.4km on the rivière aux Saumons at your own pace.

There is very little current which does not require any particular level of kayaking.

A canoe for up to three people is also available!

There is no extra charge, access to the kayaks is included with the general admission and passport.
