Description

The Lake St-Jean International Crossing at the 32 km swim between Péribonka and Roberval is presented annually on the last Saturday of July. Approximately 25 swimmers from a dozen countries participate in this cult event that requires an average of 7 hours of effort. Join the thousands of people gathered at the Roberval wharf to warmly welcome these great athletes! Arrivals moving and very spectacular! Also enjoy the many free or popular family activities including: shows and fireworks on the edge of the majestic Lake, children's day, exhibitions and amateur competitions in open water ultra safe for all ( 1, 2, 5 and 10 km Uniprix and Challenge Splash). To live absolutely: Dinner on the streets Loto-Quebec, this gigantic outdoor meal that brings together 10,000 guests around a table more than a kilometer long!

1955

On July 23, 1955, seven swimmers enrolled in the first crossing of Lake St. John. Of the seven participants present from Vauvert, only Jacques Amyot, a swimmer from Quebec City, completes the 26 km competition. In spite of the waves, the wind and the thunderstorms which prevail that day, it rallies the shore of Roberval after 11 h 32 m 10 s of efforts under the admiring glance and incredulous of the many supporters who welcome it.
