The Site de la Nouvelle-France offers visitors a unique experience of delving into the daily life of the 17th century colony of Quebec. The site presents an authentic reconstruction of life in Upper Town and Lower Town with its chapel and its church, its Fort Saint-Louis, its inn, its houses and its waterfront. Thirteen new period buildings originally created for the American television series Barskins have been added in 2024 enhancing the authenticity.

The New France Site was born following the filming of an international film (Robe Noire, 1990) and a Quebec television series (Shehaweh, 1992), the Site of New France was also used for filming the exterior winter scenes of the documentary Champlain's Dream.
