On the shores of the Saguenay Fjord, downtown La Baie is an enviable shopping and tourist destination. With hundreds of dynamic businesses and numerous resident artists and craftspeople, the atmosphere is festive year-round. For 30 years, the theatrical fresco La Fabuleuse has been telling the story of a Kingdom, while the Les Grandes Veillées festival features traditional music in August. Its quayside, where international cruise ships dock, welcomes tourists by the thousands. The port city is also criss-crossed by the Véloroute du Fjord du Saguenay, a bicycle path stretching all the way to the Musée du Fjord, where you can discover the region's natural and historical heritage. In winter, on a frozen fjord, 1,200 cabins create a veritable village, the kingdom of ice fishing. Also: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and kitesurfing.
