80 New Campsites
The Pointe-Taillon national park has opened a new sector called “Camp de Touage” in the Municipality of Saint-Gédéon on the shores of Lake Saint-Jean. Vacationers can now enjoy 70 new sites with or without services and 10 sites just for tents.
New Habitats and Attractions
The Global Development Plan of the Zoo sauvage de Saint-Félicien that has been worked on over the last 6 years is now complete! Discover the Canadian beavers’ new habitat and the new observation pavilion that provides a unique view of the inside of the beavers’ den. Observe the 3 grizzly bear orphans and the red lynx in the vast new 8000 metre mountainous habitat. Take advantage of the new central rest space and relax in the pergola by the Rivière aux saumons.
Charge Your Ebike and Discover New Sectors
Cyclists now have access to five recharging stations along the 256-km Véloroute des Bleuets bike path. Near Saint-Gédéon, 2.1 km of trail will be converted into a bike path and a new bridge for cyclists has been constructed near Alma to ensure cyclists’ safety. The Véloroute luggage shuttle service now provides transportation support for cyclists if they encounter mechanical or other problems. The ‘Blueberry Trail’ officially opens to visitors May 15th.
New Viewpoints and Improved Trail
The 8-km ‘’Pic-de-la-Tête-de-chien’’ hiking trail of the Monts-Valin national park has been revamped and now includes a new trail section and a new lookout with an impressive view directly over ‘’Pic-de-la-Tête-de-chien’’. Dogs on a leash are allowed in this area.
New Director – New Format for this classic summer theater
The regional summer theatre classic, La Fabuleuse Histoire d'un Royaume, celebrates its 33rd season with a completely revamped format. Spectators are invited to move between four outdoor 15-minute scenes representing each of the seasons. Show-goers will move safely in their bubble and, as part of the show, they will take part in a marriage, enjoy stories and legends, and a live a day in the life of a settler.
New 48-passenger Fjord Excursion Cruise
OrganisAction will offer three packages as of this summer on the 48 passenger covered zodiac:
- 3-hour fjord cruise and whale watching excursion with a departure from the Village Vacances Petit Saguenay. *Departure times vary according to tides.
- 4-hour fjord ‘comfort’ cruise and whale watching excursion with a departure from the picturesque village of l’Anse-Saint-Jean.
- Full day trio: 3-hour fjord and whale watching excursion, drop-off in Tadoussac around noon for free time to explore the village and the Marine Mammal Interpretation Centre, return by boat to l’Anse-Saint-Jean around dinner time.
This spring, the new marina ‘capitainerie’ at the Centre de villégiature de Dam-en-Terre will be inaugurated. A great spot for boaters, cyclists and day visitors to take a break and use the new rest stop facilities at the marina.
Sainte-Rose-du-Nord: Two New Hiking Trails
Both new trails provide incredible views of the Saguenay Fjord at Saint-Rose-du-Nord. The first, which is intended for more advanced hikers, takes about 2 hours to do and the second, for all ages, takes about 1 hour. Strollers are not recommended on the trail.
New Flex Pass and 30th Anniversary
Mont-Édouard is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. With the purchase of their new Flex Pass, visitors can now take advantage of all the mountain facility has to offer throughout the 4 seasons. Mountain biking, hiking, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing, fatbiking etc.
New Trails and Services for Mountain Bikers
The Mont-Bélu Centre will open a brand new climbing trail providing better access to the trails every day. Le Norvégien is developing a new intermediate/advanced trail which should satisfy the most experienced cyclists. Le Valinouët is adding a 10 to 15 km biking loop to the year-round mix of activities at the centre. Finally, the most avid biking fans will be able to extend their stay at the Club Tobo-Ski centre by staying overnight at one of the newly fitted out camping sites located directly at the end of the trails.
New Outdoor Pool, Lounge Area, Dock and Outdoor Facilities
At Village-Vacances Petit-Saguenay, the heated pool and new lounging area around the pool will be a perfect spot to bask in the sun this summer. A new floating dock has been added to facilitate the loading of passengers for whale-watching excursions on the Fjord. The sanitary block has been completely renovated and an upgrade of the hiking trails will also be improved for the enjoyment of all.
New Outdoor Spa Facilities
At Chalets et Spa Lac Saint-Jean, the main reception chalet and Nordic spa facilities are being completely rebuilt to better serve the most demanding of clients.
A Long List of New Services!
The rooms at Auberge des Îles have been updated and there is no longer any carpeting in the hotel. An interactive games room has been set-up, great for kids 2 to 16. The new gym, 25 m indoor pool and spa provide an excellent view on Lake Saint-Jean, great for watching the sunsets as you exercise! Cozy new lounge options are also available for visitors to relax, enjoy a drink or meet for a business rendezvous.
New Indoor Pool, Spa, Exercise Centre and Interactive Game Room
The new 20 x 40 ft. pool is now open at Delta Saguenay! The spa and 2-story exercise facility is also ready for visitors. The new interactive games room will be located near the pool.
As of July 1st, Moulin des Pionniers de La Doré will be offering a host of new fun additions: a new outdoor games area with giant trampoline and water features; a century-old mill visit that includes the latest in avatar projections; a newly renovated observation tower; kayak and canoe rental on the Rivière aux Saumons; new trails for hiking and mountain biking; 10 rustic style campsites; and finally, a new bike trail link to the nearby town of Saint-Félicien. Accommodations in renovated century-old homes are also available.
More Privacy, More Services
As of June 1st, 16 rooms with private bath, balcony and entrance will be available at Auberge île du Repos. Each is equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Six new kayaks will be provided on site free of charge for clients. The riverside terrace restaurant will be even cozier with the addition of sliding glass panels to protect diners from any wind and rain. Picnickers are most welcome thanks to the addition of 25 tables around the picturesque site. A program of 20 indoor shows or 5 on the outdoor stage will be offered starting June 15th featuring various artists.
Since August 2020, Pourvoirie Domaine de l’Or piste a 62 km2 site located on the Monts-Valin has new owners. They wish to continue the activities of the outfitter (hunting and fishing) but also to set up actions to diversify their clientele over 4 seasons and attract snowmobilers and quad riders. The goal is for the business to become an essential stop for these amateurs.
5 New Coolboxes
As of June 18, Visitors will appreciate the comfort and ingenious minimalist architecture of the accommodations that are located in a unique natural environment by the Saguenay Fjord at Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux. Fully equipped, these mini-houses can accommodate up to six people.
New Yurts and Campsite
The Village Récréotouristique l’Oasis offers year-round access to its 6 yurts and summer access to its 10 unserviced campsites. The Oasis is located in Métabetchouan on the shores of the Belle Rivière at the mouth of Lac Saint-Jean, a strategic location for the practice of many summer outdoor activities: mountain biking, fishing, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and a boat marina.
Yoga and Art Glamping Combo
Overnight in the cozy ambiance of a fully equipped yurt then take part in the rejuvenating experience of combining yoga and art in a picturesque natural environment at Domaine L’Orée Des Bois! The various packages are ideal for families, couples or groups, no experience required.
Bistro de l’Anse: New Name and New Additions
The bistro, located on the shores of the river in L’Anse Saint-Jean, will now be called the Bistro de la Chasse-Pinte. They will offer a broader range of products going from 9 to 20 draft lines! A new covered and heated patio has also been added as well as a new boutique which will offer beer related and local products from the Zone Boréale.
Patio Space Doubled
The well-loved Microbrasserie du Lac Saint-Jean is expanding its outdoor restaurant patio to twice its original size. Take-out sandwiches will now be available from the boutique. The microbrewery is along the famous Véloroute des Bleuets cycling trail and is a favourite stop for visitors year-round.

New Interactive Exhibit Hall
Over $700,000 have been invested to build a new multifunctional hall featuring exhibits of life-size naturalized and robotic models of wild animals at Bilodeau Canada. A visit will provide great learning opportunities for groups and families of all sizes.

New 360 degree Immersive film
At L’Odyssée de Bâtisseurs, the immersive film, entitled ‘The Interior Sea’, is told from the point of view of a young girl moving to Lac Saint-Jean with her family. The film combines music, illustrations and incredible scenery of the region for a magical 360° experience taking place in an old water tower. Self-guided podcasts, produced by L’Odyssée des Bâtisseurs, are available for tours of the historical points of interest of the old company towns in Alma.
La Traversée du lac Saint-Jean : Returns with a 2021 Edition
The international portion of the open-water race across Lake Saint-Jean will not be taking place because of the pandemic but that will not stop the provincial races from going ahead. The festivities surrounding the Traversée du lac Saint-Jean will also be organized according to health and safety measures in place.
Festival REGARD: 25th Anniversary
The producer and director, Louis-David Morasse, will be the spokesperson for the 25th anniversary edition of the festival. The festival REGARD, which normally takes place in March, has shifted their programming to June 9th to 13th.
Festival Jazz et Blues: Remixed edition
The festival will now be known as L’estival Jazz et Blues to reflect the shift of their programming to the beginning of summer. Indoor and outdoor shows are to be presented June 1st to 30th.
Festival de la chanson de Saint-Ambroise: 30th Anniversary
The annual song event, Festival de la chanson de Saint-Ambroise, is celebrating its 30th edition. The spokesperson for this edition will be Ludovick Bourgeois, winner of the 2017 edition of The Voice competition in Quebec.
La Pulperie de Chicoutimi: So Many Options!
Two new exhibitions are taking place at La Pulperie de Chicoutimi :
- Game Changers – a highly interactive, travelling exhibition that explores how technological innovations have transformed the world of video games. Opens June 5th.
- Michel Fedak. – an artist from Arvida, Saguenay, Michael defines himself as a folk art sculptor who refuses to be fenced in by stylistic constraints. This retrospective presents his works in bright and harmonious colors that reveal the artist’s love for simple things. Opens April 3rd.
